The frame of the canopy is completely wooden.
Dimensions in plan are 5.8×30.5m.
Column height is 4.5m, section 150x150mm. The distance between the columns on the working side of the canopy is 7m. This size was chosen in order to conveniently load a 6.5 m long stack of wood.
The load-bearing trusses, which serve as a crossbar, are hidden in the space between the row trusses. This way, the maximum usable height of the storage cell is maintained and the crossbar does not interfere with the forklift.
The installation of the columns, trusses and slate roof took two weeks. The work was carried out by four employees of our workshop. All lifting work was carried out using a forklift without the need for a crane.
Reinforced concrete cup-type basements with embedded parts were poured and cured separately. The embedded parts were installed at a height of 15-20 cm from the ground level to prevent the wood from coming into contact with snow or moisture.
The trusses and columns were treated with an antiseptic solution and drying oil, which gave them a dark colour. Drying oil treatment is an economical solution to extend the service life of wood that is exposed to the environment and periodically gets wet from slanting rain. During 7 years of operation, there was no need to renew the coating, even on the sunny side.
