Poultry house construction using Mitek technology

The use of wooden structures using Mitek technology in the construction of industrial poultry houses – the main advantages

Each bird has its own peculiarities of care and rearing, but all species need to be provided with proper living conditions: the ability to move freely within the allocated area, the flow of fresh air, constant temperature in any weather and optimal lighting. This allows poultry farmers to run a profitable business.

We can talk for a long time about the factors that provide the right conditions for keeping birds, but in our opinion, the view of builders, the most important is a building that meets modern technological solutions for poultry farming.

From our own experience, we can distinguish two approaches of Ukrainian poultry farmers: reconstruction with re-equipment and new construction.

Reconstruction, re-equipment or reconstruction with the expansion of an old building for a poultry house.

We can say that today it is the main approach. For the conversion of an old (still Soviet) building, as a rule, it is necessary to disassemble the old roof, remove the intermediate support, remake wall openings, make a monolithic reinforced concrete belt, and install wooden trusses with a span of 8 to 18 meters. When reconstructing buildings of greater width, you can arrange an intermediate support, this will reduce the cost of wooden trusses (up to 1.6 times), and not resort to expensive transportation of oversized structures.

Here everything happens in a classic style, a project is developed and buildings are constructed that immediately meet all technological requirements. And in this case, wooden trusses of large spans are used for the roof of the poultry house.

Why wooden trusses Mitek from Pragma?

The fact is that the building for keeping poultry is a warm building. Accordingly, it is necessary to insulate the roof, and this is very convenient and profitable to do using wooden trusses.

The main advantage of a wooden frame for this type of building is the convenience of high-quality thermal insulation of the ceiling. First of all, it is convenient to attach anything to a tree, primarily because there is a small distance between wooden trusses (in construction it is called “truss spacing”), especially when compared with the distance between metal trusses, where the distance will be about 6m (minimum 3m). We design trusses with a pitch of 1.2m, just along the width of the insulation roll, so that you can conveniently and quickly put it in several layers without cutting, without creating waste. The principle is preserved for the insulation of the ceiling and for the roof plane. In addition, the lower belt of the farm is the basis for the ceiling (lining with corrugated board or other ceiling material).

The main advantage of the wooden roof frame in comparison with the metal one is the price. As a rule, the cost of wooden structures is less than metal by 25-40%. Let’s continue the comparison. Any frame must be sheathed and insulated. The cost of insulation differs significantly depending on whether the frame needs to be insulated wooden or metal. For metal structures, the right solution is to install ready-made factory sandwich panels, and for wooden frames – you can use the same principle, namely, to lay the insulation between two sheets of corrugated board, but make it cheaper, due to the manufacture at the construction site.

In this case, we have a thickness of mineral wool insulation 150mm. And the difference between the relative costs per 1m2 of building area is 1.6 times in favor of wooden structures.

“Pragma” is ready to assist you in the implementation of your project due to the Mitek technology, which allows to design and manufacture wooden frames, as well as structures for wooden roofs using metal-toothed plates (MTP) as connecting elements. The frame and roof assembled from trusses using Mitek technology have a number of advantages:

  • Cost – a structure for a poultry house made of wood is 2-3 times cheaper than metal analogues. The technology of designing Mitek trusses using MZP gives us the opportunity to use a minimum of metal in the assembly of wooden panels and trusses.
  • Reliability – the Mitek software complex allows us to design structures in compliance with all applicable building codes of Ukraine, and modern production technologies ensure minimal error when assembling trusses at the factory.
  • Ergonomics – we create wooden trusses without unnecessary elements, each part of your roof or poultry house frame will be installed exactly where it is appropriate, ensuring the most efficient operation of the entire structure.
  • Environmental friendliness – we use coniferous wood, and during production, we impregnate the wood with a harmless, odorless antiseptic. You can be sure that the structure will not lose its bearing capacity.
  • Scalability – the technology of wooden trusses Mitek allows you to cover spans up to 30 m without internal supports, while not limiting the length of the building. You will get a spacious building for your poultry farm.
  • Assembly speed – wood-based structures are lighter in weight, which allows you to speed up the pace of poultry house construction and facilitate the process of assembling elements on site.
  • Warranty – we are a company with our own production, which allows us to supply structures without intermediaries. You will know exactly where, how and when your farms were created. For full confidence we give legal guarantees for 10 years for all our structures.

Thus we can design wooden structures and assist in the construction of poultry houses.
